1 Landscape
For the purposes of this competition landscape Includes seascapes and urban landscapes or any photograph where scenery is the main subject, – countryside, seaside, town or village
2 Portrait of Person or Persons
A portrait of Person or Persons taken on location or in a studio using natural or man made illumination. Portraits may be of full, half-length, or head & shoulders. Composition, lighting and conveyance of character are probably the prime requisites.
3 Shadows and/or Reflections
The requirement is for an image in which the main subject is the shadows and/or reflections cast by one or more beings or objects.
Submission of Entries
Prints for themes 1,2 and 3 must be submitted on or before the club meeting on 21nd November, 2011.
Judge will give results and comments at the next club meeting 5th December 2011
4 Animal Portrait
A photograph of either one or more animals which may be wild or domesticated.
5 Architecture
A photograph of the exterior or interior architecture of a building or a series of buildings
6 A Photograph of flowers
Wild or cultivated, singly or en masse, descriptive or abstract all are acceptable so long as they are of natural flowers.
Submission of Entries
Prints for themes 4, 5 and 6 must be submitted on or before the club meeting on 2th April, 2012
Judge will give results and comments at the next club meeting 16th April 2012
1 Members may enter one print for each of the nominated themes.
2. Minimum acceptable print size is 10inches x 8 inches (254 mm x 203mm)
3. Maximum acceptable print size is 16 inches x 12 inches (405mm x 305mm).
4. Entries will be accepted mounted or unmounted
( see Rule 10) Mount size must not exceed 20inches x 16inches
5. Prints may be in colour or in monochrome.
6. Prints for themes 1,2 and 3 must be submitted on or before the club meeting on 21nd November, 2011.
7. Prints for themes 4, 5 and 6 must be submitted on or before the club meeting on 2th April, 2011.
8 Judges will be appointed by the club committee.
9 Depending upon the artistic, creative and technical ability shown as well as relevance to the nominated theme, judges will award points on a scale of 1 to 10 to each print. Decimal portions of marks may be awarded at the judge’s discretion ie 8.5, 9, 9.5 etc.
10 Mounted prints will be awarded two bonus points by the competition committee
11 The total points gained by each member from all themes will be used to decide upon the club photographer of the year. And he or she gets to have the shield for the year
12 One image will be selected by relevant judge from those submitted in first half of season , and one image will be selected from images submitted from second half of season and from those two will be selected the best image of the season (new this year)
